The Wild Pacific Trail naturalists and other local partner organizations look forward to meeting you for walks and events at their Discovery Tent overlooking Amphitrite Lighthouse on the lighthouse Loop Trail section.

The Wild Pacific Trail is a unique outdoor classroom that offers incredible opportunities to connect people to nature. Their seasonal Discovery Tent at the lighthouse offers revolving topics for all ages.

Easy to walk, one-hour programs aim to engage both visitors and local communities. Topics range from natural to cultural history. 

Learning opportunities are offered most days of the week from June until September. Stay tuned for more details - full schedule of events coming soon!

The Amphitrite House is open 9am-4pm daily with a variety of exhibits and naturalists!

Step into the magical world of the intertidal zone! Join us for a one-hour guided tidepool walk!

This family-friendly program welcomes all ages. Please wear sturdy shoes for slippery rocks—this adventure happens rain or shine, and no registration is needed. Participation is free or by donation.

On your walk you might spot purple shore crabs scuttling sideways between the rocks—these tough little creatures are the clean-up crew of the tidepools, munching on algae and scavenging leftovers. You could also find anemones that “hug” your finger with sticky tentacles, or hermit crabs carrying borrowed shells on their backs. Look closely and you may even see chitons, tiny armored grazers that have been living on Pacific shores for millions of years!

Each tidepool is a window into the Northwest’s vibrant marine life—come explore what lies beneath the waves.

Please supervise children carefully, wear sturdy shoes,. No pets please. Respect the power of the open ocean, stay with your guide. Meet at the Big Beach Picnic Shelter or find us on the beach if you arrive late. 

Learn about and honour Indigenous Veterans Day by making beaded poppies with Elizabeth George, a Nuu-chah-nulth artist from Ahousaht First Nation.

Indigenous Veterans Day is observed each year on November 8th. Wearing a beaded poppy is a way to recognize the contributions made by Indigenous members of the military who served in the two world wars and the Korean War and the many who are still serving to this day.

FREE Workshop Series in Tofino

Ever wanted to make a difference but didn’t know where to start? 
These free workshops will show you how real change happens—based on the strategies of social movements around the world. 

BEAUTIFUL TROUBLE

This session will pull together all the concepts introduced so far. We’ll use the Beautiful Trouble card deck to look at Theories, Principles, Methodologies, Tactics and Stories. The cards will then be used to work on a plan which could be applied to a local issue!

Led by life-long advocate Dan Lewis (35 years of experience!), you’ll gain real tools for creating change—whether for people, animals, or the planet.

Join the Tofino Arts Council Thursday November 6th for an exhibition to remember and honour Nuu-chah-nulth veterans.
We will be having food and beading poppies with Elizabeth George from 5-8pm.

Huge thank you to Grace M George for providing the photographs for the show, and to Wickaninnish Community School for preparing and mounting all the images for the exhibit.

The exhibition will also be open on November 11th and during regular library hours.

The exhibit is at the new ʔuušmaʕukʔas Arts & Commerce Hub with Tofino Chamber in the bottom of the Tofino Legion. They have cleared out the hallway by the library to create a new community gallery space and this will be the first exhibition in the ‘Hallway Gallery’

This family-friendly program welcomes all ages.

Winter storms bring new treasures ashore each day — freshly washed seaweeds, shells, driftwood, and other signs of ocean life. Learn how these materials tell the story of the coastal ecosystem. You may find long ribbons of bull kelp, one of the fastest-growing seaweeds on Earth, growing up to 30 feet deep here. Bull kelp forests are vital marine habitats, providing shelter and food for fish, sea stars, and crabs.

Along the trail, notice the salal bushes that fringe the shoreline — hardy coastal plants with waxy leaves that help them withstand salt spray and wind.
Discover how wind, waves, and wildlife shape this ever-changing shoreline — and why storm season is one of the most exciting times to explore.

Join us for a gathering of community nonprofits as we explore the theme of Storytelling - how to tell our stories from a marketing and fundraising perspective, and how to avoid colonial narratives in the process of respectful acknowledgement of the lands and people that make the stories of our community so compelling for both residents and visitors.

Hosted by Tsimka Martin and Jeanette Sheehy. The workshop is welcoming and supportive for non-Indigenous people aiming to make change, show up well, and work toward right relationship with Indigenous people, communities, and Nations. Together we’ll look at the systems and structures we live within – settler colonialism – and how it functions both structurally (laws etc.) and interpersonally, and the resulting power dynamics and imbalances. Grounded in this awareness, we will talk about settler responsibilities and map existing and potential pathways toward right-relationship.

Indigenous people are more than welcome to attend, knowing we will be discussing the world as it is, including descriptions of colonial violence and focusing on the settler responses and feelings that maintain these systems. This workshop is rooted in hope and the possibility of a more loving and just world.
