In collaboration with WildSafeBC, join Wild Pacific Trail for a one-hour guided walk exploring the lives of wolves along Vancouver Island’s wild coast. Discover how these elusive predators hunt, swim, and thrive at the intersection of land and sea. Through stories of culture, ecology, and conservation, we’ll trace the shifting human relationship with wolves, from feared and hunted to respected and protected. Ian has been a birder since childhood, growing up in Victoria, BC. His fieldwork has taken him across Western Canada with organizations including Bird Studies Canada, Rocky Point Bird Observatory, and Parks Canada.

Ian’s knowledge of bird vocalizations is especially appreciated, and his curiosity extends well beyond birds!
