Join our naturalists for this one hour guided walk to uncover their secret to longevity and the underground web they rely on. You will never look at a tree the same way again.

On World Drowning Prevention day this July 25th, Parks Canada invites you to join the Coastal Steward Team at Long Beach Access 2 for a full day of coastal safety learning and hands‑on activities.

Drop in anytime between 10:00 am - 3:00 pm to brush up on safe ocean practices, understand local hazards, and learn how to stay prepared on the dynamic shores of the Pacific Rim. This is a great opportunity for families, new west coast explorers, and seasoned beachgoers alike.

Expect interactive demos, games, shoreline safety tips, and guidance from the people who know this coastline best.

Discover a hidden world beneath the surface, where clams, worms, crabs, and countless other creatures help sustain life along the coast.

Learn connections to history, how mudflats support migrating shorebirds, filter coastal waters, and rank among the most productive ecosystems on Earth!

Location: Meet at the Otter Lot Trailhead. 
This parking lot is in He-Tin-Kis Park on Peninsula Road just before the Coast Guard Road turnoff. Your guide will lead you to Spring Cove.

Everyone is welcome to join these morning "work bees" in the school garden where we will care for the plants and enjoy the food forest together. People of all ages and abilities are welcome and will be given appropriate and accessible tasks.

The Wild Pacific Trail Society invites the community to enjoy a special one‑hour guided walk with trail founder and visionary Oyster Jim Martin. This experience offers a rare chance to explore some of Jim’s favourite sections of the trail while learning about the remarkable story behind its creation.

Over the past several decades, the Wild Pacific Trail has grown from a bold idea into one of Canada’s most celebrated coastal pathways. During this walk, attendees will get to hear stories about the challenges, breakthroughs, and community dedication that shaped the trail’s development. Jim will also highlight hidden gems, local history, stories, and insights into the wildlife and landscapes that make this coastline trail so extraordinary.

Join Raincoast Education Society hosts at the Lighthouse Discovery Tent for a rotating series of fun, hands-on coastal themes. Explore interactive displays, touchable specimens, and quick family-friendly activities led by our booth hosts.
