Join Raincoast Education Society for the second event of their "Magnificent Mollusks" five-part virtual speaker series. This year's winter speaker series will introduce you to experts from around the world who will take you on a deep dive into the remarkable world of mollusks.
The second speaker event introduces Ian Riddick, chef and owner of Heartwood Kitchen. Ian will be discussing that while shellfish may be considered gourmet, with the right rain boots, fishing license, and knowledge, a stroll on the beach at low-tide can turn into a sumptuous feast for dinner. This speaker event will teach participants the information to safely, sustainably, respectfully, and responsibly harvest, prepare, and enjoy some of the finest seafood our coast has to offer. Ian Riddick will share his tips and tricks on cleaning, steaming, shucking, and cooking shellfish, and maybe even a recipe or two!
