Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) - February 2018
Register for this course to gain the knowledge and skills required to operate a small commercial vessel, such as a whale-watching, sport-fishing, or crew boat. Upon course completion participants will receive Transport Canada certification.
Outline:
In this 4-day Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) course, students will gain the knowledge, skills, and certification required to operate small commercial vessels including:
- vessels (other than tugs and fishing vessels) up to five gross tonnes engaged on a near coastal, class 2 or sheltered waters voyage, and
- fishing vessels up to 15 gross tonnage or 12 meters overall length engaged on a near coastal, class 2, or sheltered waters voyage.
In order to be fully prepared to work on small vessels, be sure to register in these courses also:
Marine Emergency Duties (MED) A3 (March 2, 2018)
Restricted Operator Certificate - Maritime (March 3, 2018)
Marine Basic First Aid - (December 9 - 10/2017, February 17 - 18/2018, or April 21 - 22/2018)
