SKGABC Level 1 Guide Training- October 2022
Become a certified day guide for sea kayaking on the west coast.
Outline:
This course covers all the basics of managing a group of clients on an extended day trip on coastal waters. Skill areas include strokes, rescues, launching and landing, recording and interpreting the weather, navigating by piloting, reading charts, understanding tides and currents, on-water group management, emergency communication, and safety skills. Personal skills and knowledge are also reviewed during the course.
This course will take place in Ucluelet, BC.
With Level 1 certification, guides can upgrade to Assistant Overnight Guide with certification.
Prerequisites:
Basic Paddling Experience.
Mandatory COVID vaccination.
