Public Performance for Writers Workshop - April 2024
Outline:
Friday, April 19th
5:00-8:00 PM: Exploration, skill development, work on bringing writing to life.
Saturday, April 20th
5:00-8:00 PM: Building confidence in reading and performing work. Continued skill development with voice and movement.
Sunday, April 21st
1:30-4:30 PM: Warm up and rehearsal for public performance.
6:00-10:00 pm: Public performance and feedback session.
The workshop will take place over 3 days, and culminate in a public performance on Day 3, where participants will showcase their new skills!
Using individual and group dramatic techniques, vocal and breath work, Kate will help participants learn how to relax on stage, explore creative ways to access flexibility in voice, body, and mind, build the confidence needed to present work to an audience, and develop trust in the creative process of performance development.
INSTRUCTOR
Kate Rubin is known for her extensive professional work in the Victoria arts community. She was Director of Kate Rubin Theatre Drama Studio for 25 years and has worked with theatres such as The Belfry Theatre, Greater Victoria Shakespeare Festival, and Story Theatre Company.
