Join SKILS for an online course focused on navigation skills and knowledge for paddlers and boaters. 

This course focuses on how to read and use charts and maps, practical navigation techniques, advanced navigation techniques, collision regulations, navigating with a compass and electronic navigation. 

Learning topics for this course include: 

1. How to read and use a marine chart. 

2. Practical navigation techniques including basic piloting, effect of wind on speed, checkpoints, and more. 

3. Advanced practical navigation techniques including vectors and calculating the effects of currents on speed, rule of 60 and the small angle rule, and tools for judging distance. 

4. Collision Regulations. 

5. Navigating with a compass and electronic navigation.

Prerequisites:

There are no prerequisites for this course other than the desire to become more knowledgeable about navigation.
