Marine Basic First Aid is the first aid course required for your SVOP
This is a first aid course for Marine and fishing industries that meets Transport Canada Requirements.
Marine Basic First aid is a basic first aid course with skills needed to recognize, prevent, and respond to first aid emergencies. The course includes CPR C (CPR for adults, children, and infants), CPR with the use of an AED. The course includes information on performing first aid in confined spaces and an emphasis on hypothermia as well as all other first aid skills to provide care for major and minor emergencies covered in the Standard First Aid and CPR C course.
Designed for anyone who would like to obtain a rating certificate or endorsement or a Master or Chief Mate limited certification or is the person providing first aid on board a vessel engaged on a near-coastal voyage, class 2, or sheltered waters.
Marine Basic First Aid is also recognized as Occupational First Aid level 1 by WorksafeBC
There is the option to take this course as a Standard First Aid and CPR-C course

The SVOP certification is made up of the following 4 courses:
1 - Marine Basic First Aid with CPR-C (renewal required every 3 years)
2 - SVOP - Small Vessel Operator Proficiency Certificate
3 - SDV-BS - Small Domestic Vessel Basic Safety Certificate (formerly MED A3)
4 - ROC M - Restricted Operator Certificate for Maritime Radio
