Outline:

Every year, the Tofino Community Food Initiative (TCFI) hosts a series of gardening workshops that provide our west coats community with the skills and knowledge to tackle the challenges of growing in our temperate rainforest environment.

Instructed by local and Vancouver Island-based expert gardeners, TCFI's Grow Local Workshops cover everything from making a wildlife-proof compost bin, to keeping pests and insects out of garden beds, and how to winterize your garden.

Due to COVID-19, TCFI has created a  Grow Local West Coast YouTube series for how-to-garden videos, tours of local gardens, and recordings of past Grow Local West Coast workshops and events. The videos include gardening topics and tips & tricks such as: "A Simple Way to Grow Greens", "Compost Tea", "No Slugs & No Bending in this garden," "Growing Garlic in the Pacific Northwest", "Building Soil from Seaweed", and much, much more! The series also includes tours of many local gardens including the Tofino Hobby Farm, Bodacious Oasis, and many others!

Tofino Community Food Initiative has also created a Grow Local West Coast YouTube series - KIDS! These videos explore gardening topics and tips & tricks for kids interested in growing local food, including: "Garden Club: Soil & Worms", "Gemma's Bean Experiment", "Plant Protection", and more.

This is a great way to learn more about growing local food on the west coast from the comfort and safety of your home, especially as the 2021 gardening season approaches!

Sign-up for TCFI's newsletter for monthly grow local tips and to receive our latest workshop videos right to your inbox on the first Saturday morning of each month.
