This four-day First Nation Tourism Program in Ahousaht, includes skill development, and in some cases certifications in customer service based on traditional values, Indigenous Tourism in BC, public speaking, and interpretive presentation.

Outline:

Prepare for an exciting and fulfilling season hosting visitors to your traditional territory by participating in 4 days of training. Courses will be led by local Ahousaht Instructors, as well as visiting Instructors from the Native Education College and Aboriginal Tourism BC.

Coursework will include:

First Host - First Nation customer service training sponsored and certified by the Native Education College

Aboriginal Tourism - An overview of Aboriginal Tourism in BC

Sharing Your Voice - This program teaches the tools needed and gives the opportunity to gain experience speaking in public.

Interpretive Presentations - Gain the skills required to tell the story of place. Using the skills gained in Sharing your Voice, learn and practice sharing stories of Flores Island and Ahousaht with the goal of becoming an Ambassador of your community.
