Outline:
Join artists Carly Butler and Karla Strickland for a retreat on the West Coast of Vancouver lsland and use walking, ceramics, writing, navigation, and letterpress to explore alternative ways of artistically capturing a place and experience.
We will be collecting objects and inspiration on a series of walks – both guided and independent – and then creating ceramic tiles and printing letterpress works based on our experiences. Using found objects, maps, texts, pedometer apps, navigation and weather information, each participant will create 4-6 tiles and 2 printed letterpress works on paper.
This workshop offers a creative space to explore new ways of thinking about how walking, thinking, and art making can be connected.
