Basic Chainsaw Operator - November 2017

Central Westcoast Forest Society is hosting a two-day workshop with both classroom and in field sessions covering basic chainsaw operations and maintenance, safety procedures, Worksafe BC regulations, and practical handling experience.

Outline:

In this workshop students will watch demonstrations on chainsaw handling techniques and gain practical, hands-on experience operating a chainsaw. Participants will gain knowledge about chainsaw maintenance and also learn how to breakdown and put back together a chainsaw. Chainsaw safety work procedures, maintenance, filing, and Worksafe BC regulations will also be covered.

The course will run Saturday and Sunday 8am - 4pm. The first day will be held at the Ucluelet Community Centre and the second day will be outside (location tba).

Students need to bring the following:

  • Day 1 - lunch, water, writing utensil
  • Day 2 - lunch, water, writing utensil, appropriate clothing for being outdoors all day, and caulk boots (if you don't have these let Mandala know in advance, ie. when you register, and they can be provided).

 

Prerequisites:

Students must be at least 18 years of age.
