In collaboration with WildSafeBC, join Wild Pacific Trail for a one-hour guided walk exploring the lives of wolves along Vancouver Island’s wild coast. Discover how these elusive predators hunt, swim, and thrive at the intersection of land and sea. Through stories of culture, ecology, and conservation, we’ll trace the shifting human relationship with wolves, from feared and hunted to respected and protected. Perfect for locals and visitors alike. You will have seen notices about recent wolf activity, please respect dog closure areas.

The Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Museum has restarted its historical walking tours for the summer season! 

Every Wednesday

• Tour 1: 11 AM - 12 PM
• Tour 2: 2-3 PM
• $10 per person (cash or card accepted)

Their tours cover Tofino’s historic waterfront and town, and are a great activity for tourists or residents wanting to become more familiar with Tofino.

The museum is also open daily, 10 AM - 4 PM, offering a look into Tofino's history, a great activity, especially on rainy days!

Join Tourism Tofino for their weekly beach clean-up called "Washed Up Wednesdays." 

This is a free, drop-in event to help collect and record beach debris. Gloves and buckets are provided. Follow the main path from the parking lot to the beach where you’ll find us at the Tourism Tofino tent.

Participants can enter to win a complimentary 3-night stay for two at the award-winning Wickaninnish Inn. Experience rugged coastal beauty, old-growth rainforest, fresh local cuisine and expansive views of the ocean and of Chesterman Beach. Subject to availability and conditions.

The draw will take place at the end of the summer. One participant per party is eligible and must be the age of majority (19 years old).

The Salmon Trail is a joint project between Redd Fish Restoration Society and the Ucluelet Aquarium, consisting of five educational stations across Ucluelet and Tofino on different days of the week. The stations aim to educate about the salmon lifecycle and why salmon is so important to coastal communities. 

Find the Salmon Trail every Wednesday from 12pm-4pm at the Lighthouse booth. Join to learn about salmon, their habitats, and what makes them so important to marine and freshwater ecosystems

Plankton are the ocean’s wanderers—microscopic to massive, drifting with the currents. Yet their drifting sustains life as we know it. Join us to learn cool things about these amazing creatures!

Join us Wednesdays from 1–4 pm in the courtyard at Tofino Resort + Marina to explore this hidden world. 

Watch samples collected from our ocean backyard by plankton tow, or try scanning the micro-verse under a microscope.

Get your gumboots on and join Raincoast Education Society for a hands-on exploration of local eelgrass meadows! We’ll use a beach seine to gently catch and observe the fascinating ocean creatures that call this intertidal habitat home—everything is safely returned to the sea. Learn about local ecosystems, spot some cool critters, and see how interconnected life in the ocean really is! What we find is in-seine!

You will have the opportunity to help pull the seine up onto the beach and investigate species caught inside. Raincoast Education Society staff will teach you how to handle the animals caught with care.

These interactive opportunities are FREE, all-ages events. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join! Events will run rain or shine, and gumboots are recommended.

Parks Canada will host guest speakers to speak on various topics related to Pacific Rim National Park and the surrounding areas.

Clayoquot Action presents a Jérémy MATHIEU film

Fish farming is pushing wild salmon to the brink of extinction. The federal government has promised to remove fish farms from BC waters, but now industry is pushing back with false solutions.

Join Clayoquot Action’s fish farm watchdog program as a team of underwater cinematographers investigates an “experimental” fish farm near Tofino. What they find surprises them, and spells potential disaster for wild salmon.

This film looks at the impacts of salmon farming through the eyes of those fighting to protect wild salmon from extinction. Featuring First Nations members SkookumJohn, Keltsmaht First Nation and Joe Martin, Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation, and Kwakwabalas - Chief Ernest Alfred, traditional and elected leader of the 'Na̱mg̱is First Nation, as well as scientist and best-selling author Alexandra Morton.

Join Redd Fish Restoration Society for their sea star wasting survey at Tonquin beach!

Just like salmon, qasqiip (sea stars) are a foundational species, which means they help define their ecosystem. Sunflower stars are a critical species and fill a similar ecological niche as sea otters. The loss of sunflower stars can lead to the population explosion of one of their favourite prey items: sea urchins.
Overpopulated urchins can quickly devour kelp, which provides essential habitat for juvenile salmon during their transition phase into marine water (as well other functions including sequestering CO2 for us).
Unfortunately, since 2013, sea stars have been experiencing a devastating mass mortality event that has decimated populations in deepwater habitats to intertidal zones along the shores of western North America.
The culprit: Sea Star Wasting Syndrome (SSWS).
The species hardest hit by SSWS is the captivating sunflower sea star (Pycnopodia helianthoides). This once-abundant apex predator is currently missing from most of its previously extensive range, from Mexico to Alaska, with populations having plummeted over 90%. Researchers estimate that as many as 5.75 billion animals have perished in this most recent bought of SSWS. As of Dec 2020, the sunflower sea star is listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

With the help of citizen-science volunteers, this is the 12th year of sea star wasting data gathered on the west coast, contributing to the North-America wide monitoring program by MARINe.

Learn how these charismatic marine mammals helped shape coastal ecosystems, why they nearly disappeared from British Columbia waters, and how their remarkable recovery continues to influence life beneath the waves today. Discover how sea otters use tools, care for their young, and spend nearly their entire lives at sea. While sea otter sightings cannot be guaranteed, we often spot them along the shoreline during our walk.

A guided tour of the fascinating world that exists where the land meets the sea.

Get to know some local whales, test your wildlife knowledge on the trivia wheel, and try to spot a whale spout from shore!. Along the way, you'll learn about the biology, ecology, and conservation of whales and other marine mammals.

Through a collection of compelling photographs, Adrian provides a window into Clayoquot Sound's mysterious rainforest and its wild valleys, as well as an elusive glimpse of many of its secretive inhabitants. Come enjoy a reading, and book signing, along with light refreshments, as we celebrate this latest publication and Adrian’s remarkable contributions, capturing and sharing the stories of the west coast.

Grey, humpback, and orca whales are some of the most captivating creatures that visit the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Learn about their mysterious and fascinating lives, and how our relationship with them has changed over time.
