This family-friendly program welcomes all ages.

Winter storms bring new treasures ashore each day — freshly washed seaweeds, shells, driftwood, and other signs of ocean life. Learn how these materials tell the story of the coastal ecosystem. You may find long ribbons of bull kelp, one of the fastest-growing seaweeds on Earth, growing up to 30 feet deep here. Bull kelp forests are vital marine habitats, providing shelter and food for fish, sea stars, and crabs.

Along the trail, notice the salal bushes that fringe the shoreline — hardy coastal plants with waxy leaves that help them withstand salt spray and wind.

Join WildSafeBC and enjoy the award-winning documentary "Bears of Durango" which showcases a 5-year study on human-bear coexistence in Durango, Colorado. This research film provides insight into human-bear conflict very similar to ours.

Join this Tourism Tofino workshop to explore the art of cedar weaving with Elizabeth George, a Nuu-chah-nulth artist from Ahousaht First Nation.

In this workshop, you will have the option to make cedar roses, bracelets, or earrings. You will also learn how Elizabeth sustainably harvests the Cedar she uses to make jewelry and more.

There are two sessions available, one at 12 pm and the other at 2:30 pm.
