The Tofino Community Food Initiative is a not for profit community group that formed in 2009 when a bunch of dedicated individuals decided to lay down their shovels and set about dispelling the myth that it is near impossible to grow food on the West side of Vancouver Island. And while this area does have its quirks around growing food, it is also abundant and fruitful. With the right knowledge and tools you can make anything happen! Through gardening workshops, community gardens, community projects and more, the Tofino Community Food Initiative seeks to collaborate with key community groups to foster greater food security within the Clayoquot Sound.

Strawberry Isle Marine Research Society are conducting Sea Star Surveys and need your help! They will be counting and measuring sea stars, looking for signs of Sea Star Wasting Disease, and having a fun and educational time exploring the inter-tidal zone.    

Please bring rubber boots (or sturdy shoes that can get wet), water, and your sense of adventure.

The number of volunteer positions is limited due to Covid-19 safety protocols.

The Carving on the Edge Festival offers opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of the coastal traditions of carving with the goals of encouraging the growth of the carving community and of building much-needed cultural bridges. Programming includes exhibits, forums, evening programs, workshops, demonstrations, cultural presentations and canoe tours.
