Thornton Creek is alive with wildlife this fall. Come by the hatchery to learn about the salmon restoration work being done and life cycle of the salmon in our local creek. 

Wildlife watch as eagles and ravens gather during the salmon run. Even keep an eye out for our local black bears. Interpretation is provided by staff and volunteers onsite.

The Hatchery is open to the public daily 10:00 am – 3:00 pm from Sept. – mid-Nov.

Rules – *Strictly Enforced* Please move directly from your vehicle into the fenced area – no loitering or photography in the parking area No Food, Drinks or Dogs The hatchery is on leased private land – No Trespassing after Hours. These rules safeguard you, the bears and the Thornton Creek Hatchery Society!

Admission is by donation – please support the Society’s efforts to keep this wonderful experience safe, educational, and accessible to the public!

Join local interpreter extraordinaire Silva Johansson on a bear walk and learn about the lives our omnivorous neighbours. 

Also, learn about WildSafeBC and how to keep our wildlife wild.  Humans-predator conflicts can be avoided, it just takes a little education!

Question: Why are sea stars hard to find and why are micro plastics a risk to sea creatures? Join the Wild Pacific Trail naturalist on Fridays to explore amazing tide pools

Rubber boots or sturdy footwear is highly recommended so you can explore the treasures of the tides. 

This walk inspires respect for unseen creatures and the impact of plastics on the ocean. 

This tour is not suitable for toddlers due to the rough rocky terrain, small children must be supervised by an adult please. 

Meet at the picnic area at Big Beach in Ucluelet.

Everyone is welcome to help out with this important study looking at microplastics on our local beaches. Spend a few hours helping out and leave with a better understanding of microplastics and their potential impact on the environment. Interested volunteers can email Sophie at marinedebris@uclueletaquarium.org.

The Ucluelet Aquarium is a unique catch and release facility which provides an up close and personal encounter with a diversity of fish and invertebrates from the local waters of Barkley and Clayoquot Sounds. Their mission is to raise awareness about local marine biodiversity and promote respect for the ocean environment.

Join the Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Museum for a historic walking tour! Step back in time and learn about local history touching on themes of ancient geography, childhood in Tofino in the 1930s/1940s, some Nuu-chah-nulth placenames, the Monks family, and the Grice family.

Tours will meet at 10am at the Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Museum, 331 Main St. $10 donations are encouraged and greatly appreciated, each donation helps to continue to support ongoing public education by the museum.
