Microplastic Survey
Did you know that in February 2019, the highest total volume of microplastics yet were found on Wickaninnish beach since sampling began in 2017? Microplastics are a real problem and it’s no surprise that we are finding them right here on the shores of our local beaches. The Ucluelet Aquarium is on the hunt for citizen scientists to make a direct contribution to microplastic and marine debris research in our community. Come learn how microplastics impact local marine environments and how we can begin to eliminate plastic consumption for a healthier planet and ocean. In the name of World Ocean Day, Ucluelet Aquarium is also hosting a plastic free market on the 2nd of July from 5:30-8:30 PM. Be sure to drop by and begin your personal mission to reducing plastic waste in your life!
