Spring 2026

June 19, 2026

As we look back on the past few months, we hope you’ve had space to enjoy the slow unfolding of the season, the fresh blossoms and lengthening days. With spring now giving way to the momentum of summer, we’re excited to carry that new energy forward into a season full of exploring across the region.

Across the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Region, partners have already begun rolling out workshops, field courses, and community events that invite us to reconnect with place, deepen our skills, and celebrate another season of learning on the coast. From early‑season ecology walks to hands‑on training opportunities, there is so much to look forward to as we transition into the coming months.

As summer offerings continue to emerge, we’re excited to share what’s new, what’s returning, and what’s inspiring us this season. Whether you’re looking to gain some certifications, taking the family out and about, or simply looking for ways to learn and explore, we’re grateful to be welcoming another season of curiosity, connection, and community with you.

The project gathers community stories and perspectives and aims to build a shared sense of responsibility for the Ucluelet Harbour by exploring what makes it special, how people connect with it, the current risks and threats posed, and the many ways residents and organizations care for this place. This StoryMap is a part of the West Coast NEST Science and Conservation Collection created with support from NSERG Promoscience program.

This past May, we hosted our second annual Biodiversity Discovery Days to celebrate the International day for Biodiversity. Building on the success of last year’s event, we expanded this year’s program to four full days of activities, workshops, guided walks, presentations, and citizen science opportunities.
