Magnificent Mollusks Speaker 1: Sea Gardens of the BC Coast

Join Raincoast Education Society for the first event of their Magnificent Mollusks five-part virtual speaker series. This year's winter speaker series will introduce you to experts from around the world who will take you on a deep dive into the remarkable world of mollusks. 

The first speaker event introduces Nicole Smith, a professional archaeologist based in Victoria, B.C. Nicole Smith will be discussing Ancient Aquaculture: Sea Gardens of the BC Coast. She will be discussing how First Nations have been building and caring for clam gardens for at least 3,500 years and how the Clam Garden Network has been combining many ways of knowing (traditional and scientific) to advance our understanding of local traditional mariculture.
