Wabi Sabi pots at Ultramarine Art Supply

Wabi Sabi is the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection and profundity in nature. It helps us to accept the natural cycle of growth and death. Wabi Sabi celebrates the cracks, crevices and all the other marks that time, weather, and loving use leave behind.

During this workshop you will explore the tactile world of ceramic hand-building inspired by the principles of Wabi Sabi. There will be a focus on process rather than product and although techniques will be explicitly taught, this is a place of discovery and intuitive exploration.

This 1.5 hour session will include:

• All required materials

• Direction and instruction exploring the process of joining clay and unique techniques for combining two or more colours of clay

• Discussion around philosophy and the practice of Wabi Sabi in your life

• Encouragement and facilitation of mindfulness through making

• Sharing and reflecting (optional) about process and insights along the way.

This workshop is open to all adults, no art experience necessary.
Your pots will be fired and ready for pick up two weeks following the workshop.

The workshop cost is $50

This workshop will be led by Lauren Howard-Tripp from NamARTste
